“Hello, my name is Jeffrey Brand. I\u2019m from The Netherlands and I will be working for Association RN Tr\u00e9sor for six months on a voluntary basis.<\/p>\n
In The Netherlands, I have studied biology at Utrecht University, where I followed the \u2018Ecology & Nature Conservation\u2019 track. I have done a lot of voluntary work for the\u00a0Tr\u00e9sor Foundation<\/a>\u00a0in Utrecht. I found it very interesting and I decided to see the reserve, protected by the Foundation, with my own eyes. I believe that if one wants to protect something, one must have seen that what is to be protected. So here I am, in French Guiana.<\/p>\n My primary mission for the Association is to translate the website to English. I also have a mission for the Foundation, namely to create a page about the Foundation itself that is perhaps to be included in the website of the reserve or to be created independently. In this way, the Association will be able to appeal to an international audience and the Foundation is offered a more modern platform on which donors can be informed.<\/p>\n Besides translating the website, I will be going in the field with the Tr\u00e9sor team. At the moment, the fieldwork consists of, among others, improving the mapping of the reserve\u2019s hydrological network, checking camera traps and patrolling the territory. The fieldwork allows me to see a lot species of flora and fauna. Every time I get to see new species and every day I understand more and more the importance of preserving natural heritage.<\/p>\n
